GCSEs: ‘Splendid results’ at Lancing College

Lancing College is celebrating another year of GCSE successes, with 27 per cent of GCSEs taken awarded the A* grade, 54 per cent of GCSEs taken awarded A* or A, 77.6 per cent of GCSEs taken awarded A*-B, 19 per cent of candidates achieved a ‘clean sweep’ of A* and A grades, while this year’s pass rate was 93 per cent.

Dominic Oliver, the head master, said: “Congratulations to our GCSE candidates on their hard work and splendid results in a wide range of subjects.

“These studies, complemented by the many opportunities beyond the curriculum that Lancing offers, represent an excellent foundation for their A Level years.

“It’s good to see that well over half of our results are graded A* or A.

“As ever we will have a hugely positive ‘added value’ score this year: Lancing brings out the very best in the young people in our care.”

Some of its successful students from the Horsham district area include:

Academic scholar Grace Hanna from Warnham gained nine A*s and two As and will study Maths, Further Maths, French and History at A-level.

Academic scholar Cassandra Neathercoat from Bury achieved nine A*s and one A and will study Spanish, English, History and Maths at A-level.

Beatrice Spence from Steyning gained eight A*s and two As.
