Public meeting held to discuss Route 4 noise issue

The changes are likely to affect Horley, Outwood and surrounding areas.

Representations from Gatwick Airport, the Civil Aviation Authority and National Air Traffic Services (NATS) were also in attendance at the meeting at Yattendon School in Horley.

Over 12,000 complaints have been made about the noise issue with many local people highlighting increased levels of noise severely impacting upon their quality of life and environmental well-being.

Sam Gyimah MP said: “I am calling on senior representatives from Gatwick, NATS and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to listen to concerns of residents as they review the impact of Route 4 from November 27.

“The strong turnout has sent a clear message that Route 4 flight noise must be reduced wherever possible using all available measures.

“There have been some improvements in regards to overflying over Horley and put simply, these must be sustained.”
