New chief executive to lead expansion of Sussex Chamber of Commerce

A rapidly expanding business membership group has appointed a chief executive to steer it from a public sector culture to a more commercial operation.

Sussex Enterprise is the accredited Chamber of Commerce for Sussex serving businesses large and small across the region. This week it appointed Ana Christie as its new chief executive.

Chairman of Sussex Enterprise Nick Handley said: “Ana is an inspirational leader who has substantial business experience in both the UK and internationally and we are delighted to confirm her appointment.

“Ana’s role will be to increase the range of services we offer to our members, to local authorities and to the local enterprise partnerships in East and West Sussex.”

Ana began her career in aviation and worked in hospitality before running the London Aquarium.

Travelling to Asia, she was executive vice president at a human resources consultancy before working for the British Deputy High Commission in India.

On her return to the UK she worked in West Sussex for a major supplier to the health sector.

She said: “I am really excited about my new role and looking forward to working with individuals and organisations for the benefit of Sussex Enterprise member businesses as well as the wider Sussex economy.

“By building even stronger relationships, it is important that Sussex Enterprise provides quality, value for money and an exceptional service for all its members, new commercial businesses and joint partnerships.”
