Housebuilders shortlisted for national awards for Horsham developments

Housebuilders Berkeley Homes Southern are in line for two major awards for developments in Horsham and Southwater.

The company has been shortlisted for ‘best housing scheme’ at Highwood and ‘best use of arts, culture or sport’ at Broadacres in Southwater.

Final winners of the awards, run by Planning and Placemaking Resource, will be announced in September.

“Both developments have been planned for a number of years and are of very high quality, bringing a number of benefits to the community.

“They demonstrate the advantages that can be achieved through positive collaboration between the council, the public and developers.”

The Highwood development provides more than 1,000 new homes set in 13 acres of parkland. Recreational and community benefits include a community centre, allotments, sports pitches and play areas, along with improvements to the highways network with a new road bridge over the A24.

The development also includes privately-owned homes, shared ownership, affordable rental properties and apartments for over-55s.

Broadacres in Southwater has almost 19 acres of new sporting facilities for the community, including a new cricket pavilion, cricket pitch, two tennis courts, two football pitches and a new parish community building, along with a skateboard park, a multi-use games area, and children’s play areas.
