Horsham pubs ‘excited’ to be reopening this weekend after three-month lockdown

It’s been more than three long months but - finally - pubs in Horsham will be reopening this weekend for the first time since lockdown.

Some are opening on Saturday, but others are delaying their welcome-back until next week and beyond.

But whenever it happens, dropping in for a quick pint will be a bit of a different experience for everyone.

Many pubs are urging people to book first because there will be a limit on the number of customers to maintain ‘social distancing’.

And there will also be a range of new safety measures to comply with Government Covid-19 guidelines.

The Tipsy Fox in Southwater says it is ‘extremely excited’ to be reopening tomorrow (Saturday July 4) but, initially, it will be garden-service only.

“We’re hoping for good weather,” said co-owner Andy Keeley.

Among other pubs reopening in the area tomorrow are The Lynd Cross in Horsham town centre; the King’s Arms in Horsham’s Bishopric; the Onslow Arms in Loxwood; The Fountain, Ashurst; The Red Lion, Handcross and Bax Castle, Horsham.

The Anchor Hotel in Market Square, Horsham, will be opening at noon on Monday. “We encourage people to book,” said manager Graeme Jarrett.

Many other pubs are getting ready for reopening ‘soon’ and say they can’t wait to welcome back their customers.

The Holbrook Club will be opening from tomorrow, July 4, to members.

It will be operating an online booking system, to control numbers. Staff will be offering a waiter service only, and seating will be limited to 60 (in the main pavilion that can normally cope with 200 people).
