The Cisswood House Hotel at Lower Beeding - once earmarked for redevelopment - says it will open its doors again next week.

Bosses at the hotel, originally built in 1928 for the then chairman of Harrods, say they are ‘incredibly pleased’ to be reopening on Wednesday August 26.

They say: “We are so excited to be back after a long five months of being closed.”

All staff have been on furlough throughout the hotel’s closure.

Earlier this year a planning application to demolish the hotel to make way for 50 flats was turned down by Horsham District Council.

Two previous planning applications to build flats in the grounds behind the independently-run hotel were also turned down by Horsham council.
Many local residents opposed to the proposals and lodged letters of objection.

But this week residents have taken to social media to express their delight at the hotel’s reopening.

The hotel says it will initially be opening Wednesday to Sunday and will be serving Sunday lunch, afternoon tea - including takeaway afternoon teas - along with Prosecco brunch, dinner and lunch.
