When lockdown was enforced across the UK on March 23 the business saw a rapid drop in sales.

Richard Betts, co-owner and adventure director of the business, said: "As a result we had pivoted our services to provide online training courses to enable our clients to learn the basic map reading skills to safely explore their local area from the homes. This has a massive impact on people’s mental wellbeing, fitness and reconnecting nature.

Its walking adventures are included in the English National Parks Experience Collection showcasing the best the National Parks has to offer the world.

Since Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced an easing of the lockdown restrictions Pied A Terre has been able to include additional services to its online courses.

He said: "We are now running one to one half and full day guided walks in the South Downs, Surrey Hills, Ashdown Forest areas.

"The walk will ensure the social distancing rules are upheld but allow clients to reconnect with the outdoors and recharge their mental and physical wellness whilst under the leadership and expertise of a qualified guide.

"We also have more walks coming online."
