LAWNMOWER RACE: The ultimate test of endurance for both man and machine, the gruelling 12 Hour Lawn Mower Race sees teams (male and female) competing throughout the night for some of the most prestigious trophies in motor racing. The venue is once again Five Oaks, near Billingshurst in West Sussex (RH14 9AE). Qualifying starts at 3.15pm, the race commences at 8pm and star of TV and film Warwick Davis will be waving the start flag. Once again, the £5 entry fee (children free) to the race raises money for good causes; this year it’s the local Ingfield Manor School for children with cerebral palsy as well as Andover-based Brave Hearts Children’s Charity. Food stalls and bouncy castle will be present.

Open day at Warnham Local Nature Reserve, Warnham Road (B2237), Horsham, RH12 2RA. From 10am to 4pm. Come and explore your local nature reserve where you will find: Experts in the hides to tell you about the wildlife to be seen; short talks on subjects from dragonflies to nature photography; guided walks; children’s quiz/hunt; exhibitions stands of conservation groups and organisations.
