VIDEO: Sports heroes remembered in village signs

The families of two sportsmen, who grew up in Slinfold unveiled village signs for the village on Saturday.

To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II Slinfold Parish Council commissioned two new road signs at the entrance to the village from the A29

Made by craftsmen at the Camellia Botner Foundation, they depict those sportsmen - the Rev Lord David Sheppard (1929-2005) former captain of the England Cricket team and also Bishop of Liverpool and champion runner Alfred Shrubb (1898-1964).

The signs were unveiled by the granddaughter and sister of Lord Sheppard Hon Jenny Sinclair and his sister Mary Maxwell and Mr Shrubb’s family and friends Martyn Haines, Cliff Comber, Carla Comber, Shirley Haines and Ian Haines.
