VIDEO: New school hall plans for Coolham school approved

A new school hall, added permanent classroom space, and additional facilities will be of great benefit to current and future pupils at a Coolham school - according to its headteacher.

William Penn Primary School, in Brooks Green Road, Coolham, saw its application for a new school hall, classroom, kitchen, and accessible toilet facilities approved by West Sussex County Council’s planning committee last week.

While the school’s headteacher Stephen Kear admitted that there was a long way to go before the facilities are built, due to the need to secure funding, he sounded hopeful they would get there with the help of everyone associated with the school.

“What it will mean for the school is a huge improvement in facilities for the children,” he said.

“Really it’s part of the development of the school, it’s the 40th anniversary in July, and we will be inviting everybody who has had a link with the school to celebrate how well it’s doing.

“On that basis it’s a real community thing.”
