This year marks the bicentenary of the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi’s birth and Sul Fiato aim to pay tribute to the incredible legacy of the great maestro.

Sul Fiato aims to bring classical music into the mainstream by relaxing the format and presentation of the music without compromising on vocal technique, musical expression and a never-ending passion for performance.

In Italian, ‘sul fiato’ means ‘on the breath’ and is the ultimate technical goal for any classical singer.

Officially formed in 2012, the vocal duo met on stage in 2004 and have performed together regularly since. They were married in 2006.

Sul Fiato had a successful reception in June at Teddington Television Studios to launch their new video and a self-titled album.

Naomi said: “When I was younger, I loved music for the performance. These days I love it for the ability to express, vent, to communicate, to weep and sometimes just to breathe!”

Trained in Barcelona and London, Miguel has performed on the operatic stage in London and in concert in the UK, Peru, Spain and Germany.

Over the next year, the duo’s tour will include performances in Epsom, Burgess Hill, Basildon and Hedge End.

The tour highlights two important milestones with the 200th Anniversary Verdi Opera Gala in the autumn and the 450th Anniversary Shakespeare Concert Gala for spring 2014.

The vocal pair will present to the Haywards Heath audience a selection of arias, duets and trios from Verdi’s operas. There will also be works by composers who influenced Verdi, as well as those who were inspired by the beloved master. Sul Fiato will be joined at the Clair Hall concert by Bahamian bass-baritone and Channel 4’s Operatunity finalist Franz Hepburn.

The accompanist will be British pianist Stephen Rose who is a senior vocal coach at the Guildhall School of Music and National Opera Studio.

Tickets are £15 from the Clair Hall Box Office on 01444 455440 or online at www.freedom-leisure.co.uk.
