Stand-up comedians provide twice the laughter at Capitol gig

Two of the UK’s fastest rising comedians are offering a double-bill of preview shows at The Capitol Studio on Friday, June 7, at 8pm.

At the 2010 New Zealand International Comedy Festival, Rhys Mathewson was written into NZ comedy history when he was awarded the highly coveted Billy T Award with his show Rhyspect, making him the youngest ever recipient at only 19 years of age.

TV appearances include Christmas Gala (TV2), AoteoroHA (TV3) and 7 Days (TV3), New Zealand’s equivalent to Mock The Week.

Rhys’ charm, self-deprecating humour, his wonderful story telling talents combined with his perfectly delivered one-liners have firmly established him as an internationally sought after comedian and writer.

Since moving to the UK in September Rhys has been nominated for The Best New Show at Leicester Comedy Festival 2013 and written for Jason Manford’s Good News Bad News (ITV1).

David Morgan is an award nominated stand-up and highly sought after MC. His debut show Triple Threat premiered at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival where it earned a nomination for Best New Show and was then shortlisted for the Amused Moose Laughter Award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2011.
