This year’s Capitol panto has everything you want from a festive family show – corny jokes, sparkling sets and outrageous performances.

I lost count of how many costume changes the ‘Wugly Sisters’ went through, each more garish than the last. They could easily have stolen the show with their brilliantly brash style, but they were not the only stars to shine on the night.

Strong dance numbers and solos were complemented by a string of hilarious set-pieces – my kids were still laughing about the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ number the next day, explaining to anyone who would listen just how many custard pies were launched at poor Buttons, while everyone skidded around the slippery floor around him.

Buttons was brilliant, but I must admit the cheeky Essex boy Dandini was my favourite, OMG, he was ‘totes amazeballs’!

The whole cast looked like they were having a ball, and their enjoyment on the stage washed out over the audience, who were all in the mood for this dose of Christmas cheer, with added sparkles and miniature ponies to boot.

The show is on until Sunday, January 4, so if you haven’t already booked your tickets, get along before it’s too late!
