Hawth at Crawley’s wide range of winter entertainment

Comedy, music, family shows, dance, film - the Hawth at Crawley has them all and more for the winter season 2014/15.

Comedy comes in the form of Al Murray Pub Landlord (Oct 1) with his brand new show One Man, One Guvnor as well as rising stars Katherine Ryan (Oct 1), Chris Martin (Oct 2), Peter Johansson (Nov 8), James Acaster (Nov 29) and Sara Pascoe (Dec 18). Laughlines’ dinner shows are the perfect night out with great food and great entertainment. There are three hilarious comedy dining experiences this season with The Del Boy and Rodney Comedy Dinner Show (Sept 24), ‘Allo ‘Allo le Dinner Show (Oct 7) and Edmund Blackadder – The Dinner Show (Nov 22).

Music is an important part of the season with a selection to tempt fans of all genres. We have blues, jazz, big bands, rock ‘n’ roll, classical, brass, folk and everything in between.

The Russian State Philharmonic (Oct 9) kick off the Classical Season for 2014/15 with a selection of Russian masterpieces, king of African music, Kanda Bongo Man (Oct 11) makes a welcome return, there’s plenty of nostalgia to be had with the Sensational 60s Experience (Oct 22), the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons in Lets Hang On (Oct 30), and one of the most inventive and influential bands in the history of pop, 10cc (Nov 3), plus Crawley Blues Festival (Oct 25) is back for the 9th consecutive year and Westlife’s Shane Filan (Nov 10) performs solo for the first time in Crawley.

Families can look forward to a bumper season of treats. Michael Rosen’s classic, We’re Going On A Bear Hunt (Oct 14 – 17) and Cressida Cowell’s Emily Brown and the Thing (Nov 7) both bring well-loved children’s books to life in The Hawth Studio. If your little one has been singing ‘Let It Go, Let It Go’ at the top of their voice for the last few months then we have the perfect afternoon for them with Sing-a-long-a Frozen (Nov 28). The Disney favourite will be shown with lyrics on screen, a live host who will demonstrate how to use your interactive fun pack and don’t forget to dress up for the fancy dress competition!

A huge draw for families this year will be The Hawth’s spectacular pantomime Sleeping Beauty (Dec 12 – Jan 4), with Stephen Mulhern back by popular demand and CBeebie’s Cat Sandion as Fairy Moonbeam. Audiences can expect glamour, romance, comedy, song, audience participation and there’s even a fire-breathing dragon! Younger audiences looking for a festive treat will love Robin’s Winter Adventure (Dec 21 & 22)in our studio, the story of a boy, his feathered friend and their incredible journey.

Dance fans will be able to enjoy English Youth Ballet’s opulent production of Coppelia (Oct 24 & 25) featuring local young talent as part of the cast, and later in the year Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole is back with his brand new show; A Night to Remember (Jan 27).

Also filling the stage with music and dance will be Calamity Jane (Nov 11 – 15) starring Jodie Prenger (Oliver!, Spamalot) and Tom Lister (The Water Babies, Emmerdale). Packed with great show tunes including The Deadwood Stage (Whip-Crack-Away), Just Blew in from the Windy City and the Award winning song, Secret Love.

If you’re looking for something entirely different how about leaving the theatre spellbound after Champions of Magic (Nov 8), enjoying Memories of Test Match Special with Blofeld and Baxter (Oct 7) or listening to gardening tips and anecdotes with the green-fingered Monty Don (Oct 31).
