Comedy, drama and dance in a superb new season at The Hawth

The Hawth in Crawley has announced its new season, offering a huge variety of live entertainment, film, visual arts and more to keep people entertained from February.

A Hawth spokesperson said: “As always music is a huge part of the season.

“We kick off with the UK’s finest proponent of blues Aynsley Lister (February 14 and 15) followed by international artist Julie Felix (February 25), the ever-popular That’ll Be The Day (February 27) before Hazel O’Connor makes a welcome return (March 6).

“An exciting 25 piece mixed music group Celtic Flames perform traditional Irish music with a contemporary edge (April 21).

“We also have various tribute bands to suit all including The Bee Gees Story (February 28), The Rat Pack (March 18), Sweet Baby James (March 22), The Bootleg Beatles (March 25), The Solid Silver ‘60s Show (March 31), The Neil Diamond Story (April 5), The Illegal Eagles (April 23), The Elvis Years (May 10), Let’s Hang On (May 21) and Classic Clapton (May 30 and 31).

“Plus there’s the regular Blues Nights, Studio Jazz and the 2014 Brass Season.

“The comedy season kicks off with a new show 51 Shades of Maggie (February 9) a comedy send up of 50 Shades of Grey. Also in the season – an intimate evening with John Chalis in Only Fools and Boycie (March 9).

“Jimeoin brings an evening of signature observations, with hawk eye dissection of the absurdities of life and how we live it (March 28). Following a sell-out four week West-End residency Omid Djalili brings his latest show to Crawley (April 5) and Jimmy Carr returns with not one but two performances of his Funny Business show (April 26 and May 23).

“There’a also a fantastic lineup of young, up and coming comics in The Studio offering you the chance to see them before they become bigger names – John Robbins (January 31), Susan Calman (February 26), Joel Dommett: Practical Joker (February 28), Kerry Godliman (March 20), and award winning comic and co-host of the Xtra Factor Matt Richardson (April 13). Jo Caulfield performs her hilarious new show Celebration Of Anger (May 8) and poet/’Rogue Teacher’Mark Grist performs his new show (May 15).

“You can also book early for Lee Mack’s two warm up dates for his new tour (September 5 and 6). The naughtiest musical in town Hot Flush (19 May) also returns to the theatre starring Lesley Joseph.

There’s a huge variety of shows from different cultures including the family show The Maharajah and the Kohinoorit (February 1). Parkour group The Urban Playground perform Run This Town (February 12). Ava Vidal heads a cast of female comics fronts Women of The World Comedy Showcase (February 13). See the real colour of money in the comedy Lottery Lottery, performed in 20% Gujarati and 80% English (February 22 and 23).

“This season’s theatre includes Blackeyed Theatre’s new production of Dracula (February 26), Blue Orange Theatre perform Macbeth (25 March), there’s a new adaption of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel Kidnapped (April 1). Pitchy Breath Theatre presents Shorts III – four plays in one evening which offers talented writers a chance to see their work on stage (April 1 to 3). George Dillion performs Gospel of Matthew, a virtuoso delivery of the greatest story ever told (April 20) and there’s a new staging of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights (May 22).

“Dyad Productions return with two new plays this season, The Unremarkable Death of Marilyn Monroe (April 24), a stark confessional offering a radical interpretation of the Hollywood legend and Austen’s Women (May 10).

“The legendary, record-breaking, smash hit thriller The Mousetrap celebrates its 60th anniversary with its first ever UK tour (April 28 to 3 May).”
