“Some Guys Have All the Luck charts Rod Stewart’s career chronologically and highlights some of the significant strokes of luck which helped the rock legend during his stellar career.

“It could be argued that Rod Stewart’s luck started even before he was born. Just half an hour before he was born on January 10, 1945, in Highgate, North London, a German doodlebug made a direct hit on the local police station. The beginning of the show depicts how a young Rod Stewart was lucky enough to be discovered in his busking days by Long John Baldry, a major player on the ’60s blues scene. This stroke of luck early in his career, helped Rod build both his musical knowledge and confidence.

“Fans are then taken on a journey of the key moments of luck in Rod’s life as he manages to establish two parallel careers: one with the band The Faces and one as an increasingly-successful solo artist. Few international artists can boast such tales of simultaneous success.

“The next significant episode in Rod’s career in 1971 is perhaps the luckiest of all.

“The track ‘Maggie May’, which was nearly missed off Rod’s third album, was actually a B side, but was accidentally played by an American DJ as an A side.

“Six weeks later, the song stood at the top of the American charts and a week later it was number one in the UK.”

The show starts at 7.30pm. Call 01293 553636 or visit www.hawth.co.uk.
