“What if Christmas doesn’t come from a store? What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?”

So says Dr Seuss in How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Just like the Grinch creative people at Steyning Arts believe that Christmas shouldn’t be about mass produced gifts from a shop.

So they are hosting an artist and makers fair filled with unique gifts, greeting cards and decorations.

A spokesperson for the Steyning Arts team said: “We believe Christmas time is about giving chances, so we are offering local artists the chance to showcase and sell their hand crafted art works.

“We know that everyone likes and deserves something different so our artists will be offering photography, jewellery, painting, stained glass, woodcraft, textiles and ceramics.

“We understand that gifts from the heart do not have to cost the earth, which is why we have asked artists to produce pieces suited to all budgets with prices ranging from two to two hundred pounds.

“We believe Christmas is a great time for ‘a little bit more’ so we will be supporting ‘Your Space Your Time’ (a charity that provides accessible respite care) with proceeds from the sale of refreshments.

“And because we all dislike paying for car parking but love a bit of cake we’ve chosen a venue with a free car park and are offering cake in our café area.”

The Steyning Arts at Christmas Artist and Makers Fair will be held at the Steyning centre Saturday, November 28, between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
