Jo back with jazz

Jo Fooks makes a return to Chichester Jazz Club this month following her popular debut last year.

Club spokesman Hugh Ashton said: “Jo studied saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music from 1995 to 1999, and her musical career breakthrough came when she joined the Humphrey Lyttelton Band in 2006.

“These days, as well as being a much-sought after guest musician, Jo leads her own quintet which are with her on this visit. These will include pianist Ted Beament who for many years was also with Humphrey Lyttelton, guitarist Dave Cliff whose subtle style is always popular at the club, the sensitive bassist Val Mannix and the tasteful Buster Birch on drums.

“During her last performance at the club, it was not just the warm-toned, hard-swinging playing that delighted her audience but also her enthusiastic and humourous stage manner. More of the same can be expected at this special Christmas event where complimentary mince pies will be on offer!”

The concert at the Pallant Suite, South Pallant, Chichester, PO19 1SY is on Friday, December 16 where the music starts at 7.45pm. For more information visit www.chichesterjazzclub.co.uk. Advance guest tickets are on sale at Chichester Tourist Information Centre, South Street on 01243 775888.
