Get fit and dance

Circle Dancing kicks off for the New Year, with the first session on Tuesday January 10, 7.30pm at The Guide Hall, Whyke Lane, Chichester.

Spokeswoman Claire Wilton said: “In a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere we learn traditional dances of many countries including the Balkans, Greece, Israel, Russia and France. The dances can be energetic and lively or gentle and reflective.

“It’s a great opportunity to get fit, make new friends and lose yourself in the delightful variety of music. No prior experience or partner is required and there is no need to book for a term: just come along and give it a try.

“Circle dancing plays a role in personal wellbeing and social interaction, and you may find a dimension of inner peace such as can be experienced in yoga or meditation. Many countries have traditional dances which call for collective dancing within a circle, strengthening community and encouraging togetherness.”
