Billingshurst Billifest Family Fun Day set to be a cracker

A total of 43 brilliant young artists from Billingshurst Primary School competed in this year's BilliFest Family Fun Day & Christmas Fayre Poster Competition.

The judges awarded 2 prizes in addition to the winner. Everyone who entered received a small gift with the top three receiving gift tokens.

The winning picture is used for the main graphic on the BilliFest public poster and the cover page of the illustrated leaflet, which goes to 4,000 homes in the village.

Denise Campbell, Chair of the Billingshurst Community Partnership, said, “The illustrations from our local children were really excellent and were submitted by students from Reception up to Year 6. We are most grateful to the Head Teacher of Billingshurst Primary School and her staff, parents and to the children themselves”.

The annual fayre takes place in the heart of Billingshurst on Saturday 1st December from 10am to 3pm. The entries were judged by Gillian Knight, Vice Chair of the Billingshurst Partnership and all the works will be on display at BilliFest itself. The printed flyers are delivered to residential addresses across Billingshurst and handed out in the village. BilliFest is organised by the Billingshurst Community Partnership. Denise Campbell said, “We are indebted to our generous sponsors. Thank you”.

BilliFest is the community’s major winter event and attracts over 1,500 people. Some 250 children will visit Santa in his grotto at Cubitt and West, receiving from him. their free present courtesy of the Billingshurst & District Lions Club.

The opening of Billifest will begin at 10 am with our MP Jeremy Quin cutting the ribbon accompanied by 2 of the winners of the poster competition. There will be non-stop music and entertainment throughout the day and Radio Weald, which is run by the Weald School students, will again be host. This year’s line-up to date includes the Bells of St. Mary’s Church at the 10 am opening, non stop variety entertainment from acoustic performances by Jodie Munday and Emily Cooper, demonstrations that you can join in with from lifestyle fitness. Another treats will be a sessions with BilliUke, Billingshurst’s own ukulele jamming group, and the magnificent ROCK CHOIR! We will be joined by the Billingshurst Choral Society, more exciting things are still being added! , . The running order is to be confirmed, details are also on the ‘BilliFest’ Facebook page.

The annual children’s ‘Find the Name of the Gnomes Competition’ will be in full swing with great prizes. It runs from 1 December to 14. Entry forms are at Billingshurst Library and Santa’s Grotto.
