Horsham Natural History Society. Wesley Hall, London Road, Horsham, 7.45pm. Maurice Moss describes the role of the colour of butterfly wings and how the colour and pattern contributes to their survival. ‘Colour and Structure of Butterfly Wings’ will also examine the detailed structure of the scales on the wing and the manner in which they contribute to colour, using scanning electron microscopy to understand the nature and origin of structural colour in contrast to pigments.
