THE Steyning Decorative and Fine Arts Society lecture, Oct 10, will be on the ‘Life and Work of Chagall’ given by Ann Peerless of the Art Fund. Chagall’s life ranged from his birthplace in Vitebsk Russia through his artistic education in Paris and on to the United States. His work embraced many different forms including painting, printmaking, book-illustration, tapestry, theatre and stage designing, ceramics and stained glass. Visitors are welcome to the lecture (donation £5) which is at the Steyning Centre, with Fletchers Croft car park off Church Street, opposite the church. The lecture begins at 10.45 after coffee at 10am and business matters at 10.30.
