Thursday July 4, 6pm: Meet at Warminghurst church gate (TQ 118169). “Warminghurst: USA Heritage”. The tiny village of Warminghurst has 17th century links to the USA, but is set in a landscape of rich soils, sandy tracks and quiet pinewoods. 3 miles. Leader; Geoffrey Mead, Sussex University.
Sunday July 7, 6pm: Meet at Slaugham church gate (TQ 257281). “Slaugham: High weald, high summer . . . and Lord Nelson”. An evening stroll through Wealden ghylls, quiet woodlands and passing a hammer pond. Slaugham is a village of superb vernacular buildings. 3 miles. Leader: Geoffrey Mead, Sussex University.

(700 bus 9.50 am from Worthing Dome, 7 from Brighton North Street at 10.40am to Marina). 8 mile linear walk along the undercliff and over the cliffs to Newhaven. Option to stop at Peacehaven (5 miles). 12/12A bus back to Brighton. Picnic lunch.
