Politics gets a grilling from comedians

The world of politics will be a target at the next night of stand-up from The Comedy Network at Worthing’s Ritz Studio when political comedians Gráinne Maguire and Matt Ford are joined by Naz Osmanoglu on Friday November 22.

Spokeswoman Gemma Nethersole said: “Comedian, comedy writer and columnist Gráinne Maguire is known for her excitable charm and most recent show at the Edinburgh Festival, Gráinne Maguire’s One Hour All Night Election Show.

“As a self-proclaimed politics nerd and pop culture obsessive, Gráinne knows as much about the coalition government as she does about Cheryl Cole’s relationship choices.

“She has appeared as a guest on Radio 4’s The Now Show, An Idiots Guide, Front Row and Women’s Hour as well as Radio 5’s 7 Day Sunday.

“Gráinne writes for a range of websites and newspapers and has written for 8 Out of 10 Cats, The News Quiz and The Show What I Wrote.

“She has often been asked to comment on elections and politics by Sky News and BBC3’s Free Speech and this year she received the Radio 4 Comedy Writer’s bursary.”

Gemma added: “Gráinne’s fellow political comedian, Matt Forde, is a former political advisor and took his show Eyes to the Right, Nose to the Left to this year’s Edinburgh Festival.

“He has also appeared as a guest on The Now Show and The News Quiz as well as comedian Al Murray’s Radio 2 shows.

“The final member of The Comedy Network’s Worthing trio, is winner of the Amused Moose Laugh-off Competition, Naz Osmanoglu.

“Naz is a regular on the London comedy circuit and part of the trio WitTank alongside Kieran Boyd and Mark Cooper-Jones.

“He took his first solo show 1000% Awesome to the Edinburgh Festival in 2011 and celebrated his status as 19th in line to the now-abolished sultanate of the House of Ottoman in his 2012 show Ottoman Without An Empire.”

Show starts at 8pm.
