Mid Sussex pupils unite for Schools Aloud concert

On Thursday, July 18, The Schools Aloud concert sees the debut performance of the Central Mid-Sussex Schools’ Community Interest Company’s Choir and Orchestra at Victoria Park, Haywards Heath.

The concert begins at 5pm.

The CIC was established in September 2012 across the 20 schools in Haywards Heath and the surrounding area.

It aims to utilise funding to create new and exciting opportunities for children across the 20 schools.

Karen Crockford, Locality Business Manager said: “We are very excited to be part of the Schools Aloud event, which allows us to share the vast musical talent that exists within our schools with the wider community. “We believe that it is important that children are able to access music and have invested in creating both a CIC wide choir and orchestra.

“The choir features some of our most talented singers from both the primary and secondary schools.

“Our junior orchestra have achieved a huge amount for such as young group of musicians.”

A spokesperson from It’s Magic said: “We are very proud of our CIC Choir and Orchestra. We believe strongly that musical ability should be nurtured, encouraged and celebrated.

“To do this we have brought together our very best musicians and singers from across the 20 schools.

“They have been working very hard and have enjoyed the opportunity to work with such talented mentors as Josie Quin, Mike Wood, Hannah Carter and Sarah Dubost-Hautefeu.

“In addition to the formation of the choir and orchestra, all children across the 20 schools in the coming weeks will be learning some songs that will be familiar to everyone ready to be led in a whole audience sing along by the CIC choir.

“The evening will continue with performances from Warden Park, Oathall School and Sussex Central College.

“We are delighted to be a part of It’s Magic’s ‘Schools Aloud’ showcase on Thursday, July 18, as it provides a fantastic opportunity for our children to showcase their talents and for us to share a little bit of magic with the wider community.”

Tim French said: “This concert is an enhancement of the aim of It’s Magic Events to provide arts and entertainment for the whole community of Mid Sussex.”

The event will provide an opportunity for families to come together in Victoria Park for an evening of singing and music to lift everyone’s spirits. As you would expect from an It’s Magic event, there will be plenty of opportunity for audience participation.
