Ensemble Reza’s Community Orchestra is offering a popular programme of classical music on Sunday, July 3, at Oathall Community College, Lindfield.
The concert, which takes place from 5pm to 7pm, features extracts from Bernstein’s West Side Story, Holst’s The Planets and Beethoven’s 5th Symphony.
The players aim to offer something for everyone and provide a great introduction to classical music for younger people.
Hannah Carter, managing director of Ensemble Reza, said: “My son, who is only six, has loved being involved with the orchestra. He now practices the drum part to Mars (from the Planets Suite by Holst) every day and it has certainly sparked an interest in classical music.”
The Ensemble Reza Community Orchestra was set-up in 2015 and includes people of all ages and abilities, offering an opportunity for players to perform with family and friends. Members also benefit from playing alongside professional musicians from Ensemble Reza and musicians from project partners Burgess Hill Symphony Orchestra.
The orchestra is supported using public funding by Arts Council England and funds from West Sussex County Council, Burgess Hill Symphony Orchestra and other Sussex schools and businesses.
Tickets for the concert cost £8 for adults and £3 for children and are available from Carousel Music, Commercial Square, Haywards Heath, or online at www.ensemblereza.com/box-office.
