This summer, Amberley is celebrating its artistic tradition and showcasing the talent of a large number of local artists.

This first time event, called ‘Creative Amberley’, will be held in the lovely gardens of Oak Tree House as well as St Michael’s Church, Amberley Pottery and Castle Cottage – the studio of one of the artists.

There will be exhibitions, demonstrations and ‘hands-on’ workshops for adults and children.

The amount of professional talent in this small village is extraordinary. The work on show will include: paintings, sculpture, ceramics, animal portraiture, metalwork, photographs, cards, textiles, embroidery, patchwork, upholstery, furniture and inkle braids.

Some of the works displayed will be for sale and commissions will also be taken.

Adults can try their hand at pottery in Amberley’s unique working pottery or learn how to make high quality jewellery. Children can paint a plate or mug, taught by Rosie Simmons, a professional ceramicist. Face painting will also be on offer.

The latest trend for anything vintage has been embraced by offering a ‘Vintage Tea’ with home-made scones and cakes, and there will also be a Pimms & Beer Tent. The raffle includes a beautiful patchwork quilt and framed embroidery, which can be seen on our website. There will also be a chance to buy locally made and grown produce and plants and win prizes in the tombola.

Money raised from the project will go to Action Medical Research which funds research into childhood health. The Creative Amberley team hope that people will have a great day out on Sunday, July 28, from 2pm to 6pm.

Some of the workshops run in the morning and are bookable so find out more and see the profile of all those who will be exhibiting at www.creativeamblerley.co.uk
