Hurst Players present a haunting play by Alan Ayckbourn

A spokesperson for the group said: “Alan Ayckbourn has written more plays than William Shakespeare and is probably best known for his riotous comedies, many of which the players have put on.

“He has also written some excellent plays that contain more serious themes hidden inside the comedy – Snake In The Grass is one of these.”

The play is renowned for its creepy and bizarre atmosphere. It tells the story of a middle-aged woman who returns to her family home where her younger sister lives. Set shortly after their father’s death, it offers a tale of murder and blackmail with possible supernatural elements.

And the players say that the audience won’t be able to guess the outcome.

Snake In The Grass runs from Tuesday to Saturday, May 3-7, starting at 8pm every night. Doors open at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the show cost £10 (£8 concessions available Tuesday to Thursday).

The Hurstpierpoint Players formed in 1936 at the New Inn. Now a registered charity, the group has its own theatre at 147 High Street, Hurstpierpoint.
