THE HORSE and Groom has become the first pub in Sussex to be closed under the 2003 Anti-Social Behaviour Act.

Police met on Monday with the district council to discuss bringing forward an application to review the premises licence at the East Street pub, in addition to the two-month court ban already in force.

Speaking outside the Horse and Groom, as workmen boarded up the pub, Inspector Martin Pattenden, issued a warning to publicans not to tolerates drugs on their premises.
