LOCAL residents have told of their shock following a robbery at a petrol station.

A female security guard was attacked and more than £60,000 cash stolen at the BP service station In Horsham Road, Alfold on Thursday morning (August 23).

Surrey Police said the woman was grabbed and threatened at 11.30am before a man took three cash canisters containing the money for a delivering to an ATM machine at the BP service station, in Horsham Road.

The woman is said to be shaken but not injured.

Investigators are searching for the black man in his 20s who escaped at speed down the A281 towards West Sussex in a maroon Ford Focus car, registration DV03 ABN.

The vehicle, which possibly had a second person on board, has not yet been found.

Police said the man, who was unarmed, was wearing a grey hoodie.
