CONTROVERSIAL plans to demolish a 'landmark' Horsham pub to make room for a housing development were dramatically thrown out this week.
Horsham campaigners celebrated after The Nelson pub, in Trafalgar Road, was saved at a meeting of Horsham District Council's development control committee on Tuesday night (February 5).
The plans to build 14 flats and car parking facilities on the site were rejected because officers and councillors agreed the style of the blueprints needed a 'major rethink'.
And local residents appealed this week for their pub to be left alone for good.
