HUNDREDS of cyclists turned out in force for the first NSPCC Big Bike Ride near Horsham on Sunday.

Organisers were thrilled with the results which saw 600 people saddle up in the name of a good cause.

The charity, which helps victims of child abuse, predicted the event should raise £60,000.

Big Bike Ride project manager Claire Wormley said at the event: "We are really pleased with it because it is the first one that has taken place.

"It's really exciting to see hundreds of people on their bikes – that was our vision."
