Young Hornets hit Marle Place for six to cruise into cup final

HORSHAM Under-16s booked themselves a place in the League Cup final with a commanding 6-1 win over Marle Place Wanderers on the 3G pitch at Hassocks Sports Centre at the weekend.

Despite the setback of losing their captain Connor Cushing to a head injury in the opening exchanges, the young Hornets scored four first half goals through Harry Smith, Alex Parsons, Jake Legrange and George Hole to take a commanding 4-0 lead into the break.

Horsham kept up the pressure after the break, but after initially finding the Marle Place defence difficult to break down, Alex Parsons crossed for Legrange to score his second.

A rare slip in the Hornets defence allowed Place to get on the score sheet but the green and yellows sealed a well-deserved win when Greg Gander broke quickly from the back and powered home a sixth.
