Video: Judo club's medal delight

HORSHAM Judo Club returned victorious from the South East of England Open Championships.

All three members of the Southwater-based club who entered into the tournament at Crawley's K2 Centre returned with medals.

Stuart Colacicco and Denise Lehocka collected gold medals, while Shaun Taylor picked up a bronze.

Taking part in the colour belt section, Stuart displayed his all round ability to win all four of his fights by Ippon, which wins the contest outright – two were won with a throw, one with a hold and another with a strangle.

The club's coach Derek Paxton said: "Stuart is one of our most enthusiastic members that we have. I have high hopes for the Sussex trials in April when he will be fighting black belts."

Denise won both her fights with Ippon, one throw and one hold. "Denise trains with the men and really benefits from their practice," Paxton added.

Shaun won a bronze, winning one fight and losing two.
