PULBOROUGH are sitting pretty on top of Sussex League 1 and skipper Richard Nicholls admits his side are there to be shot at.
The Black and Whites opened up a 13 point gap at the top of the division with a 35-19 defeat of nearest challengers Brighton II on Saturday, and with promotion to the London leagues their pre-season aim, it is encouraging for the club. Boro have a week off league hostilities this week, facing Farnham in the RFU Junior Vase.
Nicholls said: “Everyone will be raising their game against us. The Brighton and Burgess Hill games were incredibly hard and I’m sure they all will be now.”
After last week’s defeat of Brighton II, Nicholls said: “It was an excellent win, we were under the cosh but we showed good team spirit.
“I think we showed them too much respect at the start of the game and we needed to up the pace. They had good players and good ball carriers, but in the second half we had a very good 25 minute spell which they had no real answer for.”
