Horsham celebrate their Chichester Festival win

Horsham RFC Under-12s made a great start to the new season by winning the Chichester Festivals on Sunday.

The young green and whites played some excellent rugby in the group stage beating Pulborough 3-0 with tries from John Porter, Joshua Loach and Matthew Pitt, Haywards Heath 1-0 with captain Conor Riley the try scorer, Portsmouth 5-0 with tries from George Smith, Andrew Mailer, Ed Nicholls and Joshua Loach and Chichester B 5-0.

The standard of rugby was excellent with the forwards winning good ball and the backs creating gaps out wide with good offloading in the tackle a particularly effective feature of Horsham’s play.

In a tense final good inter-passing from John Porter, George Newson and Joshua Loach led to a Horsham try, and some determined defensive work in the second half, notably from man of the tournament Jo Endacott near the end saw Horsham hold out to win the first tournament of the season.
