Horsham RUFC’s Under-15s stormed to a bonus point win against local rivals Pulborough, in a hard fought contest on Sunday.
The young Green and Whites ran in four tries in their 26-0 win, but were made to wait for their scores after Pulborough fought tooth and nail, and the result does not do a spirited Pulborough side justice. The hosts defended well and countered with some good forward play.
After a first half stalemate which saw too many wayward passes, knock-ons and a host of penalties, the first points were scored ten minutes after the break.
Horsham centre Rowan Murphy-Hunt broke the deadlock, spotting a good line 10 metres out and running in the first score.
Soon after, flanker Luke Saunders poached the second try with a characteristic pick-up. Callum Boswell converted and the 12 – 0 scoreline allowed the Green and Whites to relax a little and play better quality rugby, as prop Joe Roche and winger Canice Gonzague were thrown into the action.
Alex Clery caught the eye for Horsham with another solid showing at centre, and Elliot Martin put himself about in the forwards. Horsham Man-of-the-match was full back James Tandy, who was rock solid under the high ball and made some powerful runs in to opposition territory.
