Horsham Rugby Club were crowned London 3 South East champions this afternoon.
The Green and Whites secured the title with two games to spare in the league thanks to a comfortable 49-12 win over Old Dunstonians at Coolhurst.
It was pretty much all one-way traffic at Hammerpond Road as a rampant Horsham ran in seven tries to march towards clinch the crown.
The runaway leaders secured promotion three weeks ago and now have an unassailable lead over second place Dartfordians.
The Green and Whites led after just 11 minutes as Jamie Gibbs evaded three tackles to cross and Tom Johnson added the extras with the first of his seven conversions.
Johnny Ordidge broke from the back of a line-out ten minutes later and the conversion gave the hosts a 14-0 lead.
Johnson then eased across and converted his own try just before the half-hour mark for a 21-0 lead at the break.
Declan Nwachukwu then picked up from an Old Dunstonian mistake to race away and put down four minutes into the second half.
The visitors pulled a converted try back ten minutes later with an interception on the edge of Horsham’s 22.
But normal service was resumed on 65 minutes as Gibbs intercepted and ran the length of the pitch, and, with Johnson’s conversion, Horsham led 35-7.
Dunstonians pulled another try back after a Horsham mistake, but Will Bell and Nwachukwu touched down again in the closing stages to cap the win and start the celebrations.
