Barns Green adopted a very solid approach as they ran riot in a 69-0 win against Hove 3rds.
Early penalty kicks were sent deep and the resulting line-outs produced well-executed and controlled moves resulting in a building of points in the first 20 minutes.
This pattern continued, with Green purposefully striving to create fast ball from loose play that could be moved wide to utilise both the open space and a growing desire from the home side to follow each other and look to take and give a pass at critical times.
Hove strived to contain the game and while falling behind in the points tally, never looked out of this game competing in the tight, at the break down and producing inventive line out moves.
Green sit second in the league after this performance and the run in to Christmas leaves them with both some significant matches against others in the top three as well as visiting big club’s lower sides.
Despite several impressive individual performances it was the team attitude against Hove that stood out.
There was a growing maturity and an understanding of how to build a game and generate a positive result.
