Nail biting win keeps Horsham youngsters’ cup hopes alive

HORSHAM under-15s still have a chance of reaching the Sussex Final after a nail biting 14-13 win against Haywards Heath.
It was win or bust for the young Green and Whites, as a loss would have put them out of the running for the end of season showpiece, and the match became a real cliffhanger.
Straight from the kick-off it looked promising as Horsham had nearly all the early ball and their enterprising backs were pulling the home team from one side of the pitch to another.
Haywards Heath though struck first with a try, but after Aaron Pyzer came close to scoring Horsham did cross the white line when Max Howell crashed over. Callum Tusler converted magnificently - a kick which proved crucial later on.
The hosts again took the lead at the start of the second half with their second try, putting them 10-7 ahead. Horsham, now playing on the counter, went further behind when Heath scored a drop goal from nothing.
With time running out though Liam McGivern scored to reduce the deficit and under great pressure Tusler again converted, and with their noses now ahead Horsham held on to claim the narrowest of victories.
Full Back Matt Streeter was man of the match.
