Former Christ’s Hospital School pupil Joe Launchbury has been voted England’s man of the Autumn International Series in a poll by sponsors QBE.
The Wasps lock, who was an integral part of the rugby teams at Christ’s Hospital, made his debut against Australia, then won his first full cap against South Africa before earning rave reviews for his display in the historic defeat of New Zealand.
“I am not surprised by Joe Launchbury’s award as the QBE man of the International Series, Andy Turner, director of rugby at Christ’s Hospital said: “During the QBE Internationals Joe has shown that he can step up and compete with the best rugby players in the world. A sign of an international sportsman is when they look comfortable and can cope with the pace and intensity of the game at the top level.
“I thought his performance against New Zealand was awesome and the whole CH community is very proud of Joe and all that he has achieved this autumn.”
