Roffey clinch Premier League Promotion
ROFFEY won prommotion to the Sussex Cricket Premier League for the first time in their history yesterady by taking the Division 2 crown.
Roffey celebrated their promotion and title with a six wicket win at home to Billingshurst.
The visitors were dismissed for 155 in 40 overs with 60 from John
Burroughs and 31 from skipper Scott Stratton, Luke Barnard taking 4-15.
But Aaron Jeal with 54 and Michael Norris, who made 44, took Roffey to victory at 157-4.
Pulborough, whose match at Worthing was washed out, can join Roffey if they take three points from next week's final game.
Elsewhere in Division 2, Haywards Heath enjoyed a narrow two wicket win at home to already relegated Keymer and Hassocks but may still need 13 points from their final game to be sure of safety.
Ths visitors, put in, were held to 142-7 with Michael Johnson making 53 while Michael Coulter took 4-53 to take his season's haul to 51 League wickets.
Haywards Heath owed much to Hayden James who hit 62 and Coulter added 27 but Michael Poole hardly deserved to be on the losing side, he took all 8 wickets for 39.
Glynde enjoyed an important win by 16 runs at home to St.James's but they, too, need points and possibly a win next week to stay up.
In a Glynde score of 139 all out Rob Mouland made 52 as John Glover took 5 for 35 and Raza Ali 5-52.
St.James's were then dismissed for 123 as Dale Tranter took 7-40, George Taylor made top score of 37.
Stirlands and Lewes Priory played out a draw with both needing points at Birdham.
In a Stirlands score of 216-7 declared Sean Heather hit 92 and Will Gubbins 37, David Tong taking 4-45.
Lewes held on at 200-8 with 67 from Imran Khan and 61 from Nick Seager. Sean Heather took 3-77 and Struan Cameron 3-31.
Lewes need six points next weekend to guarantee their safety, Stirlands could need 23.
The remaining game was called off at Worthing where the ground was too wet to prepare a pitch.
Reigning champions Preston Nomads need one point from their game at Bexhill nest Saturday to win the Sussex Premier League title for the third successive season.
They were frustrated by a weather delay at Chichester on Saturday but still took 16 points by winning a T20 game. Horsham's win against Bexhill ensures they take second place.
Preston Nomads were frustrated by ground conditions at Chichester and had to be satisfield with sixteen points as winners of a 20/20 game at Priory Park.
Chichester were dismissed for 114 with 35 from Chris Kirkham and 31 from David Leaver as Joe Gatting took 3-29.
Gatting then hit 52 in a winning score of 115-7, Chris Kirham taking 2-11.
Horsham put Bexhill in and sent them packing to 156 with Toby Finzel making 29 and Huigh Finzel 47, the pair adding 63 for the first wicket. But then Luke Marshall's off spin took control and he took 6-39 including a hat-trick to dismiss the visitors.
Horsham found it far from easy and they were, at one time, 97-5. But then Will Beer with 76 not out and skipper Alan Law, who made 35 not out, took them home at 157 for 5 from 32 overs.
Hastings ended their relegation worries, just, when they held on for a draw at home to Three Bridges who remain worrying to their final game when the teams meet again next Saturday.
And in Division 3, Goring moved into top place after demolishing Henfield by 8eight wickets. Henfield opted to bat first but Goring's Australian fast bowler Ross Brown took 8-26 as the home side were skittled for just 68. Danny Pittham made 38 not out to complete Goring's victory.
The result leaves Henfield needing a win in their final game against Findon to have a chance of avoiding the wooden spoon.
Pagham remain in contention after a 6 wicket win at Littlehampton.
The home side's 149 proved not to be enough with Wayne Green taking 5-33 in their innings. Nathan Roberts then hit 85 not out to leave Pagham best placed should Goring slip up next week.
Middleton are close behind in third after having their free week and may yet regain their place in Division 2.
Findon overcame Arundel by 26 runs to leave the home side still in trouble at the foot of the table.
Arundel started the game well by dismissing two of the three Bridsons in the Findon top order.
However the third, Bradley continued his recent excellent form by striking 77 out of the total of 99 at the time of his dismissal.
Felix Jordan then contributed 64 to leave Findon at a healthy 219-7. Geoff Stothert made 46, Rohan Ardley 43 but Arundel were left short at 193 while Harry Metters and Felix Jordan took the bowling honours for Findon with 4-63 and 3-59 respectively.
The day's other game saw Bognor comprehensively win an unusually low scoring game at Slinfold.
Harry Swetman's 4-36 helped dismiss Bognor for 162 but then Romesh Eranga's 8-38 shot Slinfold out for just 82.
