Red-hot Taylor scores third century for England
Sarah Taylor bagged her third one-day international century as England took a 2-0 lead in the NatWest Women's Series with a 55-run victory over Australia at Chelmsford on Tuesday.
It followed the nine-wicket win the previous day at the home of Essex CCC, and left the world champions hot favourites to take the five-match series.
Former Roffey colt Taylor hit 120 off as many balls as England stamped their dominance with 259 for six before bowling out the tourists for 204 in the 44th over. It was the highest ever individual score against Australia in England in a 50-over ODI.
It was the second time that Taylor had scored more than 100 runs against Australian opposition. Partnered by Claire Taylor (42), Beth Morgan (41) and Ebony Rainford-Brent (30) the England opener was also named the Player of the Match for the second game running.
On Tuesday the 21-year-old took two fine catches behind the stumps and made a crucial stumping as the tourists were skittled out for 133 – their lowest ever total in a ODI between the two – before opening the bat with 68.
