Pulborough promotion party
THE HORSHAM district will have three Sussex Premier League cricket clubs next season after Pulborough joined Roffey in promotion from Division 2 this weekend.
Pulborough beat Billingshurst by 63 runs to confirm their runners up spot to champions Roffey, and the two sides will join Horsham in the Premier League in 2011.
Skipper Rohit Jagota hit a century and Max Barson 82 as Boro set Billingshurst a daunting 279 to win. Hurst, who themselves were in need of a win and other results to go their way to avoid relegation, fell short desipte a spirited knock of 75 from captain Scott Stratton.
Pulborough chairman Nick Cousins said: "Even though we are still basically a 'village' outfit, having now become one of the top ten clubs in Sussex is fantastic not just for the club, but for the whole community of Pulborough.
"The prospect of playing teams such as Preston Nomads, Horsham, Hastings and others is an exciting one; but we know that once the europhia of achieving promotion has died down, much work is needed behind the scenes over the coming winter to ensure that we give a good account of ourselves next year and beyond."
