Otto making all the right moves to becoming chess champion
A TEN-YEAR-OLD pupil at Windlesham House School in Washington is showing all the signs of becoming a Chess Master of the future.
Otto Pyper, from Storrington, is now playing in matches for the England Under-11 national squad after qualifying a year early.
One of his first fixtures was against Wales recently where he drew against the top 12-year- old Welsh player. Otto will now go on to play in matches later this season against Flanders and Holland.
The youngster's achievements in chess are considerable at such an early age – Otto is amongst the top eight players in his age group in the country after being awarded a place in the Under-11 national junior squad just a week after his tenth birthday.
His chess coach at Windlesham House School, Jonathan Tuck, said: "This is a truly significant achievement as over the past ten years I have coached more than 50 juniors who have succeeded in winning a place in the England squad.
"However, none of them were as young as Otto."
