JUNIOR badminton players from the highly successful Horsham Arun Performance Centre at Broadbridge Heath have been on the medal trail again with the Sussex 2010 Junior County Championships.

The club produced a host of winners and runners up in the championships at Portslade on Sunday.

In the under-17 boys competition, Horsham took both the singles and doubles titles; Jack Newall taking the singles honours courtesy of a 21-17 final victory, whilst brothers Eric Richardson and Sean Richardson (aged 13) provided the upset of the tournament by clinching the doubles title with a couple of nail-biting 21-20 victories and a 21-15 win over the pre-tournament favourites.

The U15 competitions saw Horsham juniors triumph in both boys and girls singles and doubles; Amber Lam was the star performer, winning both the girls’ singles and doubles titles, the doubles in partnership with Freya Hodgson.

The U15 boys singles saw HAPC provide all four semi-finalists with David King and Sean Richardson defeating Adam and Aaron Lam respectively to reach the final which David King won by 21-12.

Adam and Aaron recovered quickly from their singles’ disappointment to clinch the U15 boys doubles title to cap a triumphant day for the Horsham team.

With the U11 and U13 championships scheduled for this Sunday at Portslade, the Horsham Arun club will be hoping to add to their already impressive array of medals.
