Horsham bowls round-up; Fittleworth too good for Southwater

Visitors Fittleworth were too strong for Southwater in their friendly match winning two of the three mats played in an overall 78-45 win

Southwater’s Ruth Corcoran, Reg Clark, Brian Barnes and skip Sheila Bonwick tied on their mat, as the home side was unable to record a win on the day.

In indoor bowls, Horsham IBC returned from their trip to Swale IBC with a share of the spoils as both teamns won three rinks. Top Horsham rink was Maggie Dellard and her team of Gwen Male, Dennis Truscott and Mike Reeves 21-12.

Horsham entertained near neighbours Donyings in a triples which the visitors won five rinks to one. Top Horsham rink going to M Ryan, C Robins and Alan Fisher, 27-17.

Meanwhile, Horsham’s ladies came out on top against a Sussex ladies representative side, top rink was Sylvia Thomason, Angie Fenton and Dorothy Armstrong, 22-10.

Also this week, Horsham welcomed Surrey Masonic BA for their annual fixture, and the visitors returned to their respective clubs empty handed losing on all six rinks played. Top rink went to Malcolm Ryan, Tony Wellstead, David James and skip Brian Warner 33-9.

And finally, Banks BA won six of the seven rinks in a what was a tight contest - top Horsham rink went to Malcolm Ryan, Tony Wellstead, Pam Thomas and Tony Male 25-10.
