Horsham bar billiards round-up: Roffey put pressure on leaders

Roffey Club kept the pressure on Horsham & District League leaders Dun Horse B with a 4-1 defeat of Stout House A.

Bob Hayes took the first leg before Mick Fair (12k) Dick Cable and a 9k score from Gareth Lloyd in the fourth wrapped it up . Stout’s Keith Newman beat Lee Cable.

Dun Horse’s lead is down to a point after Roffey’s win combined with their 3-2 loss at Stout House BB. Adam Kuzimski took the first, but that was cancelled out by Jim Greensted’s 7k, Rick Dewdney responded with 5.5k and John Miller clinched the match in the fourth, Derek Taylor won the fifth. Clive Thompson’s opening 7,800 was the highlight of Mill House’s defeat of Black Dog. Vicky and Barry Timson secured the victory - Alan Downs and Steve King responded for Black Dog.

Elsewhere, Roy Wells took the deciding leg as Dun Horse A beat Holbrook Club in a close contest. Nigel Evans and Steve Hopkins had cancelled out Richard Spurrier’s opener, but Ian Giffen levelled it up before Wells’ clincher.

Limeburners have opened up a five point lead at the top of Division 2. Steve Holden, Jeff Raine, Mick Johnson and Tom Darkins traded points before Tony Temple made sure.

Andy Crofton ensured the Windmill derby went to the A team. Joan Davies and Rob David gave the As a flying start before Mike Lennon and Gary Cresswell forced the decider in which Crofton beat the more experienced Steve Eely.
