Elliott stages recovery at Mannings Heath

WSCT golf

WSCT golf

Elliott Cloy recovered from a disastrous start to win the first Mannings Heath Turkey Trot of the year, carding 40 points to pip George Harvie on countback.

The 14 handicapper failed to score on the opening two holes, but after that dropped just five shots, while Tim Powell took third thanks to a better back nine than junior captain Luke Bennett, after both signed for 37.

Thursday saw the Ladies tackling Waterfall with just four clubs and a putter although heavy overnight rain and a forecast of more to come reduced the entry for this fun competition.

Sam Barnes top scored in the Silver Division with an excellent 33 points off eighteen, four clear of Pat Etheridge and Mina Burton, while Meriel Jolley posted the best Bronze card, 31 points, to beat Anna Sowerby, 30, and Pat Griffiths, 24.
