Elliott soars ahead to win Mannings Order of Merit
JPCT-CTSPORT Mannings Heath Junior order of merit winner
Despite the disappointment of having their Christmas Cup competition rained off on Saturday Mannings Heath’s juniors still had plenty to celebrate at their presentation lunch as Elliott Webster and Sam Huddlestone claimed the 2012 Order of Merit trophies.
Points were accumulated over twenty-eight separate events during the year with fifteen year-old Webster winning six of them including the club’s junior open and reducing his handicap from ten to four in the process. He finished over thirty points ahead of nearest challenger Ali Crunden who also had a highly successful year in lowering his handicap from eleven to five.
Twelve year-old Huddlestone meanwhile took the award for most improved player after reducing his 36 handicap by 8.9 to just pip Elliot Hogg by two decimal places. Heath’s junior organiser and teaching professional Carl Watts was on hand to present the trophies together with Ian Jaggard , manager of the Sussex County Boys team and a former Mannings club captain. Under Watts’s leadership junior golf at Mannings Heath has never been stronger with five in the Sussex Performance Academy squad.
